THE INVISIBLES

On February 25, 2010, one month after the earthquake, I traveled to Haiti as part of the RIF International Feminist Radio team. I went with the “Carretero Cinema”: a screen, a projector and a selection of films to present outdoors in the camps where the victims of this tragedy were. We settled in the garden of the house of the Ecumenical Center for Human Rights CEDH, directed by Jean Claude Bajeux and his companion Sylvie Wadestrandt.

"Ishtar´s trip to Haiti, the invocations sung to the dead, it is devastating: how to continue living with so many (children, mothers, friends) dead? How to continue singing? There is no need to tell a story: in those songs and their litanies they insist on pain and the unanswered question, why? Why a god was cruel and remains the same. "Ana Longoni

THE SONGS OF THE GRANDMOTHER

It premiered on the platform of the "Jirondai" project, on May 12, 2021. It was held in the indigenous communities of Soqui and Amubri, in Talamanca, Costa Rica, with the ancestral songs of the guardian of the Bribri culture, Natalia Gabb Sánchez , of the Kacha'utwak clan. It is part of the investigation of the feature film project in development “Crepuscular”. The struggle of the original peoples against the usurpers of the territories continues. The indigenous communities of Costa Rica are unprotected. The lives of its defenders, of recuperating women, are in constant danger. They suffer attacks and the crimes remain in impunity. I bow down grateful to learn from his ancient wisdom; because they have resisted colonization through centuries; for these songs that have the power to heal wounds.
